Toy review: The Magical Makes of Pimponella’s Creations

Who doesn’t dream of owning their own tree house? Like somewhere, deep down inside our big adult shapes, our inner child is still waiting patiently for one. I know mine is ๐Ÿ˜‰

But let’s face it, most of us aren’t lucky enough to have the money/and/or space for a life size tree house (though I still live in hope), so what the next best thing? How about a dolls house size one?

Hell yes.

I won’t lie: when I first discovered this wonderful little company, my inner child did a bit of a skip when I saw all of the beautiful, magical and creative makes by the amazing woman who makes them.

I am always trying to find new ethically made/ handmade and locally made things. Be it household decor, crafted stuff, cosmetics, clothes; and of course toys. My boys have many different types of toys, and though they have lots of beautiful wooden and locally crafted toys; they also have plenty of plastic ones like Lego and Playmobil too. They love them all for different reasons, and as long as they’re enjoyed I’m happy ๐Ÿ˜‰

But the reason I try to go for less mass-produced/ locally/ hand made products is because I am all for fairtrade products made by workers who aren’t exploited, with ethically sourced materials, and I like that non- mass produced products have more time put into them, and a little bit of their creator in them too ๐Ÿ™‚

But also, I myself am a work from home mum and crafter. Everything I make takes so long to complete, and a piece of me goes into everything I make and so I like to support other small businesses and WAHMs like me. I feel it’s so important to support our small businesses otherwise we’ll lose so many of our wonderful, beautiful original/ quirky / hand crafted and creative products that are currently out there. Not just that, but most small businesses are many people’s livelihoods, I would much rather put my money in their pockets than in those of large corporations any day.

And so when I discovered the beautiful little business Pimponella’s Creationsย , I was blown away by their stuff, and so very excited to buy one of their amazing hand made tree houses <3

I first came across this beautiful business on Facebook through one of my mummy blogger friends, she and her sons had just received their tree house that day and had taken loads of beautiful photos of it. It was love.

I headed straight over to Pimponellas’s Creations (PC’s) Facebook page and instantly started flicking through all of the amazing past creations. I can’t explain how long I spent sat on their Facebook page, going through all of the photos, not quite being able to decide what one I wanted to buy for the boys. There was so much choice!

It wasn’t just tree houses though, but also little houses, pirate ships and the most beautifully made peg people. But once I discovered that you could design and commission your own, well; that was a game changer…

My original design

I designed mine based on one of PC’s past makes, though I added more levels, different stairs and loads more foliage. The design was followed to the letter. It was perfect!

It was going to take a few weeks for my commission to be made, which is totally understandable given the that these beauties are made from scratch. Each section is cut, sanded and screwed into place; and every detail meticulously crafted and pieced together.

I absolutely couldn’t wait for the tree house to arrive – it felt like the longest month of my life ๐Ÿ˜‰ So while I waited I busied myself with making little bits and pieces to go in the tree house, including a bed, campfire and little peg people which I named the ‘Nomads’.

Best of all my boys didn’t have a clue about the amazing toy being made for them, it was a total secret. We were due to move house just a couple of weeks after the tree house was due to arrive, and our new house had a playroom- the tree house would take centre stage in the new playroom and be a surprise ‘new home’ present ๐Ÿ™‚

It didn’t disappoint ๐Ÿ˜‰

The weekend we moved house was a chaotic and exhausting one. The house was full of boxes and the boys went to stay at their dad’s for the weekend so Al and I could get the house unpacked as much as possible, and ready (and safe) for the boys when they came back on the Tuesday. The first room that was unpacked and organised was the playroom ๐Ÿ˜‰

The day the boys came to their new home was awesome. They made a dash straight for the playroom and “oohed” and “ahhed” at their brand new toy. Their reaction alone was worth every penny.

We have been in this house just about two months now, and the tree house is still a much loved and highly played with toy. Nic plays with it most out of the pair of them, using the tree house as a base for his toy elephants and dinosaurs (his two favourite things) to live in. This toy is wonderful because it encourages the children (Nic especially) to engage in role play and storytelling; Nic’s elephants, dinosaurs and occasional Holztiger animal have a great time in the treehouse; running up and down the stairs, playing hide and seek, having dinner and going to sleep. It’s incredibly cute to watch. Jacob usually uses it as a garage for his favourite cars to live in. Though he does love to play with the little people I made for the boys too; the blue one especially does love to lunch ๐Ÿ˜‰

I couldn’t be happier that I bought this toy for the boys. They love it, and I love it too, it’s beautiful to look at and really captures the imagination. I look forward to later years when the boys are a bit older to see what kind of stories they’ll cook up for the tree house then. In the meantime, I can’t garentee that the tree house will be my last order from PC ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pimponella’s creations really is a fabulous little business, the creations and unique and tailor made for every customer. They truly are one of a kind, no two toys are the same <3 Head over to their Facebook page to get a look at some of their lovely stuff. I can guarantee you’ll want *everything*
